Even underfloor and wall heating systems require individual room control systems to work efficiently. A particularly convenient option is the Fonterra Smart Control: The new control system from Viega continually adjusts all heating circuits automatically. Only as much energy is ever used as is needed to ensure the individual comfort temperature. Stylish room thermostats round off the new concept, which was awarded the “Design Plus powered by ISH” prize by the jury of this year’s competition.
Radiant heating and cooling systems, which include both underfloor heating and wall heating, are normally designed in accordance with the maximum heat requirement of a building. However, this calculated thermal load is only needed on a few days – normally during the winter period. As a result, the heating is not set correctly for the other days of the year. The Fonterra Smart Control now checks the prevailing room and usage conditions continually and automatically and calculates how much energy is needed at that point. This makes energy savings of up to 20 per cent possible, without dispensing with comfort and warmth.
Flexible reaction
Put simply, the Fonterra Smart Control adjusts heating circuits dynamically and automatically. To do this, the control system measures certain parameters and settings, such as the current room temperature and supply and return flow temperature, and makes it possible to adjust every heating circuit to the highest level of efficiency. At the same time, the Fonterra Smart Control reacts to temperature influences, caused by window ventilation, sunlight or the operation of a fireplace, as well as pre-set periods of absence. The result is a learning, user-dependent and fully-automated setting of surface temperature regulation for each room.
Also for renovations and redevelopments
The Fonterra Smart Control works reliably and completely independently of floor coverings, screed levels and heating circuit lengths. It automatically takes into consideration the existing conditions and efficiently adjusts the radiant heating and cooling to this. As a result, the Fonterra Smart Control can be retrofitted without any problems, even as part of renovations when there is no technical information available about the underfloor heating.
Smart operation
A heating profile is created from the first commissioning. However, these settings can always be modified individually during operation. And intuitively managed on the WLAN network using a smartphone, tablet or PC.
